FLOAT RESCUE—While rowing on Indian Pond in his grandfather’s canoe with his mother Winnie and dog Stella, 13-year-old Philip Stig Host, grandson of Stig and Jeanne Host of Orford, spotted the Orford Town diving float wedged against rocks on the far side of Indian Pond. Recognizing the float, Philip freed it from the rocks and towed it back to the town beach. According to an instructor of the Orford/Piermont Swim Program which uses the float for its lessons, the float had been cut loose from its anchorage by vandals. They are very grateful for Philip’s action.
